So, we bought a brand new 2019 Mercedes GLC SUV from our local Mercedes dealer here in Germantown, MD – Euro Motorcars.
I’ve previously bought three convertibles from the same shop – loved all three. The salesman was polite so, when we were ready to shop again (me being brand specific….I was, rather…), I turned to the same fella who I will not call out.
This story was not his fault – most of it.
Anyway, a short two weeks later, my husband grazed a pole in a bank ATM pull through. He hit it at around 3 mph, just after starting to pull out of the ATM.
What happened in that 3 mph ‘crash’ has changed my view of Mercedes – forever.
‘What happened?’ you may ask? Well, the wheel fell off. You read that right – the wheel FELL OFF!
The bumper was scratched but not one dent to it. Yet, THE WHEEL FELL OFF!
So, our beautiful 2019 Mercedes GLC SUV has been at the Mercedes Collision center now – wait for it – Friday will be a MONTH for repairs. Yep, a MONTH.
According to the repair shop, it kept failing the alignment test so they had to keep ordering parts. Now, it failed THREE times – wouldn’t you think they would have figured out what parts it needed right off the bat?
So, this article is smashing the Mercedes brand name into its own pole. What a crock.
The minute I pick our ‘new’ Mercedes up from the shop, we are selling it. It will be gone, hopefully to be forgotten in our memories.
For a 50K car, should the wheel fall off in a 3 mph bump? Methinks not.
Oh, that salesman? Ted Shepherd. I talked with him yesterday and he said that could have happened to any car. Um, no….it couldn’t have.
Additionally, both Ted and the financial guy who worked on the loan were aware that I physically owned the coupon book for service for my existing Mercedes convertible.
What neither of them told me was that there was a $750 coupon in the back of that book. I could have reduced the price by $750 since I was a repeat buyer.
Did either of them mention that? No…why would they? Less commission is the only thing I can figure.
Since the car is SO new (2019), I’m contacting Mercedes directly and headed up the food chain until I get a reason this happened.
End result, don’t buy a 2019 Mercedes GLC SUV. Just don’t do it.
Off to test drive the Mazda SUV. It got much better ratings on consumer reports anyway.
