I don’t go anywhere without my Ebel watch
For those looking to move into another quality of watch from the standard Timex, you need look no farther than the Ebel watch brand. Ebel is the manufacturer of one of the highest quality watches on the market. For the money, I believe that Ebel far exceeds the quality of a Rolex or Tag Heuer, Ebel’s flashier cousins.
My parents gave me an Ebel Classic Wave watch for their 50th anniversary – how’s that for role reversal? And, I’ve been the proud wearer of my Ebel watch for more than 20 years now – 23 years to be exact. When I received my Ebel, I knew it was a very nice watch, but, what I didn’t was exactly how nice it was until I started to look online to see the rest of the Ebel watch line. This is one watch worth the price.
My own experience with my pretty Ebel has been excellent – short of replacing the battery every few years, this watch has caused me no problems at all. And, I’m a boater and an RVer so this watch goes everywhere with me including beach and snorkeling expeditions. With a sapphire crystal, there is no scratching on the face at all, and, I’m one to bang jewelry around. I couldn’t be happier with my parents’ present to me!
Ebel watches come in many flavors – there’s both men’s and women’s types. If you’re looking for flashy, check out the diamond bezel watches below. There’s a wide choice down there including a less expensive sporty model.
As a bit of history, Ebel watches have been in production since 1911, when, on July 15th, Eugene Blum and Alice Lavy registered the name Ebel in the Swiss town of La Chaux de Fonds – the name Ebel is a combination of their names Eugene Blum Alice Levy (I suppose it’s a good thing he got top billing; otherwise, we’d be talking about Aleb watches…).
Due to the city’s poor soil so lack of farming, La Chaux de Fonds. became known as the watch capital of the world and today hosts the International Museum of Watch Making.
Basic Ebel Watches For Women
The word ‘basic’ is not exactly correct as there is nothing basic about this beautiful watch. The flexible, comfortable watch band makes this watch wearable day and night. Note, my model is no longer called the Beluga but I’ve included it below as the first link – this is my exact watch:

I’ve never heard of this watch, but it sure sounds wonderful. I like the different designs, and the pink diamond dust one really caught my eye. Right now I have a Seiko, but rarely ever wear it, as I haven’t got into the jeweler to put in another battery. These watches are beautiful and I think a gift like this would put the sparkle back into someone’s eyes, don’t you?
John Craig says
I’ve always thought that model of watch was very sophisticated and elegant.

Ebel is an old and luxurious brand with a great pedigree. Congrats.

Hi I have had Ebel watches for over 30 yrs… I am lucky enough to own three, including a diamond studded one.. I always felt that they were true innovators in design and quality.. Heavily copied…I would dare to say by Rolex and others. A very undervalued make. Gorgeous
I would add that they used to have a jewellery section as well ,and again I was lucky enough to own a truly amazing gold bracelet bought in their Milan boutique. I haven’t been able to find anything out about it since. I think they ceased this part of their business The make is becoming rarer and rarer to find in the shops. Its also more difficult to get it serviced here in Europe… sad for such a brilliant company.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea Ebel has jewelry! I just had my battery replaced and am good to go for another year or two. I’ve been wearing this watch every single day, swimming, etc, for the past 27 years! Amazing watch.
Carol says
Unfortunately the Ebel experience has not been a good one for me. Due to a battery replacement and an additional internal problem identified with a 2 year old watch, my watch has been sitting with Ebel (Swico) since July. I have been informed that no compensation will be offered for the delay in getting the parts needed!!!!
You will notice that many jewellers don’t offer this brand due to after care service. Avoid Ebel at all costs.

I’m so sorry this has happened to you, Carol. I’ve been wearing my ebel for 29 years this year! It’s been an outstanding watch. I still see them in better jewelry stores so not sure if your problem is an outlier. Sorry though. I stand by my recommendation.
Christopher Cheesman says
I am afraid i have to echo the sentiments of Carol. I bought an Ebel automatic watch eight month ago and after using the crown (only ever with thumb and index finger) for a maximum of ten times it fell off in my hand. Taking the watch back I was told this is not under warranty and I would have to pay over 300 Euros to repair the watch. They stated the watch had been misused.
While the watch was elegant, it is clearly not fit for purpose and I would not recommend one to anybody based on my current experience.
Lori B. says
Hi, Christopher and sorry your Ebel was not the watch you expected. Mine is still rolling along 27 years later. Maybe they were made better ‘back in the day.’ Sorry
